Service lights
Service lights
When the five green service lights go out and it moves to amber (and the word inspection appears) and then the red light after that, do the amber and red lights go out at the same time intervals as the green ones did?

Re: Service lights
NO...............
From memory the service lights go out based on time/usage/type of usage.
Amber light means service me NOW
Red light means Service overdue.
Orange word SERVICE with a clock is the annyal TIME based only service required which is the visual inspection.
I believe the time component from amber to red is much shorter than the time component from one green light to another green light
Regards,
Nat.

Re: Service lights
All things Nat said except clock - time based but for Brake Fluid Change.
Get it done on late amber a latest, but check the quality of your oild. If it looks really back, sooner rather than later.
Each green light is 'roughly' 3,000 miles - very rough though. Start/stops, short journeys will bring that down.

Re: Service lights
Thanks - perhaps due to my motorway mileage and little around town I actually get 5000 miles between each green light (and have done so continuously for the last 100k miles).
My reason for asking was that due to work constraints and when the dealer can fit me in, means that I can't get the car serviced for at least 3 weeks in which time I will have put a further 2000 miles or so on the car.

Re: Service lights
'Clock' symbol is every 2years regardless of other service lights.
If your amber light is on, then it will go red before you finish that. I think it's 1,000 miles from Amber to Red

Re: Service lights
Thanks guys. didn't ask about the clock !!
And yes I know it goes from amber to red - I put that in the first post too!
So thanks Richard for clarifying around 1000 miles or so for amber. Does anyone know how long from amber to red?
What happens after that am I just driving round with a red light on or does the car pull over into the hard shoulder and cease to be.
Im guessing that in fact it is just a light highlighting that the service is overdue and (at my own risk) I could actually drive around as long as I want - except that I don't want to do that I want to get it serviced. The oil is fine -I check it regularly and top up as required.

Re: Service lights
Just thought I'd post back on this as I got round to getting the car serviced today. As it happens I got another 2800 miles with the service light still on amber.
