Been looking at the front Aero trim that goes on the bottom of the bumper. There's a genuine BMW one on Ebay for BMWdirect but not sure it has all the parts and is just the outer bit?
Am I right in assuming that there are 3 outer parts that you paint with extra black plastic mounting carriers that are screwed to the original bumper?
Anyone got any experience of buying/fitting these?

Not sure if i like the front aero lip to be honest. Cannot quite decide if it doesn't look a tad tacky at some angles lol. Regarding fitment I think you are correct and they mount onto black brackets.

Looked at them today myself, they look nice - I hate the non M sport version its too plastic looking, so adding these in the colour looks great. Brings it a bit closer to the trim of the M.
Reads like it is a bolt on bracket then it snaps on or screws on. Get it and let me know!

Seriously considering selling the X5 after today, shocking aftersales and the constant fear of faults appearing on a £60K car, might just cut my losses and forget the upgrades.

Issue with rear lights filling with water, leather on front seat detached, simple and well documented problems yet BMW dealers are less than helpful and are trying to skank for an inspection fee and at best I get a 'good will' gesture.
So, £35,000 and an AUC warranty later and I'll probably be another £500 down from what are clearly manufacturing faults, on a mint car with only 13,000 miles on it. And then in another thread I see that there is a recall for driveshafts, 'probably' covered but none of this bodes well for the future ownership of the car.
I'm realistic but no mug, I don't expect an uphill battle and don't expect problems like this on a £60,000 (new) car.

is it still in warranty? if so rear lights filling is clearly an issue covered under warranty. They cannot avoid that. Regarding seat, where has it come away? where it meets the plastic base or where bolster is? my stitching has failed on bolster and it literally just needs a simple repair to stop it getting worse and to stop the foam becoming exposed. Ive tried a local leather trimming company. I would get dealership to repair both if under warranty. If not, go to another dealer.

Yeah, the seat problem is the foam showing at the side on the base, dealer is quoting £800 plus to sort, the rear lights are £350 plus. It's still under the BMW AUC warranty until April, manufacturers warranty ran out in September.
They are asking for around £150 to inspect the isssues :blink: Non-refundable and only then can they find out BMW's 'good will' contribution as they say these things aren't covered under the AUC warranty.
All well and good travelling the country looking for a dealer but surely they are all the same. I contacted the supplying dealer tonight, over 300 miles away so not ideal. The sales manager is going to contact me ??
Anyway, in the meantime I've sent e-mails to the MD of BMW UK, BMW UK customer service, see if they can see reason.
I just feel they are taking the p*ss asking for an inspection charge and then suggesting I pay towards these repairs.
At the end of the day I'll take the supplying dealer to court if I have to, shocked though as I've never had this sort of problem with any other make of car I've ever owned.

Thats wick mate, I was tossing between a cayenne and a rangie Sport, but this seems the best choice based on reliability. But the electrics is my only niggle. Mechanically I'm hopeful. I've driven german cars for years with bliss, but this things made in the USA ;(

Thats disappointing to hear!! feel for you. Take it all the way if I were you.
Regarding rear lights. I had an e60 m sport lci 525d 2 years ago and whilst in auc warranty it developed a fault of every alarm possible flagging up for rear right light cluster, ie:
Rear right brakelight failure
Rear right indicator failure
etc etc
Long story short, water getting in caused corrosion. Failed. Warranty covered replacement item!! ( ie if your light units go faulty then surely they have to cover it? ) and surely you could help them fail?
Stinks though for them not even attempting to help out!!

Had contact from the MD of BMW UK, he is putting someone onto it that will discuss in the next 48hrs.
Also spoke to the supplying dealer today who quoted I only had 6 months to complain to them, basically washing his hands of it and suggesting I contact BMW customer services ?
Not impressed, I said the car came warrantied for a year and these issues are 100% not down to me, again he said they, as a main dealer, only had an obligation up to 6 months. I had water in my rear lights 2008 model, they were replaced under warranty as there had been a alteration to the part to stop it occurring, good luck.

Right, got a reply from the suppying dealer 350 miles away, he has contacted my local dealer to book it in for an inspection/repair. If it's proved to be not caused by me then BMW UK have said they would 'look generously on any claims for these two issues'
Still not sure what that means, I'm after 100% of the costs being covered by them?
