Right I'm in a slight dilemma here,I want to take preferably two wheels off one time to give a thorough clean and seal with C5 but not actually sure what's the right way to go about jacking and placing the axle stands.

I need some pointers on this please.

A lot of the car is actually covered with shielding and plastic covers for aerodynamics.  If you have a Karcher pressure washer, you could use one of these....for the chassis.

No jacking required and you first clean off with the detergent and then use the sealant that they provide.

If you are working from side to side you could jack the rear up far enough to get an axle stand and block under the front jacking point and then release the trolley jack a little to balance the load.  I haven't really found a good way to do it at home except with two trolley jacks - which you need to have a fair bit of faith in when jacking.  I always use a block of hardwood between the jacking cup and car.

For the wheels I only do one at a time as they're too damned heavy otherwise and I do have faith in my 3-tonne jack.  I will invest in an electric wheel bolt remover eventually as I have a decent torque wrench so an impact driver would speed the job up a bit. :)

The main problem that I'm having is if I use a jack trolley on one of the front jacking points where do I put the axle stand?
I have 2 trolley jacks and 4 axle stands,in the past on different cars I would jack up under a wishbone and place axle stand on the oem jack points.

Where can you jack the car at the rear other than the oem jack points?

Agree with the wheels being on the heavy side and you're right the use of an impact driver to release the wheel nuts are a positive.

The only advice I've seen (but not yet used) is to run a baulk of timber under the car (a 2x4 was mentioned, but a 4x4 might be better) with a little pad screwed/nailed to it to fit the jack pad point, and jack on that just inboard of the jacking point and then place an axle stand under the end directly under the jacking point.  No idea how well it might work, but it might, and it probably needs an extra pair of hands to keep the timber steady initially?

The Dealer is now the only one who takes my wheels off due to my back injuries

Richard thanks for your input as always,I'm might get a spare old wheel for the E70 and take one wheel off and stick the spare on while I clean the wheel.

Five years and counting!  It's a right pain and means no heavy lifting which is extremely annoying at times.

Back yo your original question, a nice little 4 point three ton full car lift would be really handy.....oh well I can always dream. :P

I'll see if I come across any other ideas too.  Not got much else to do except job hunting at present.

Yes a 4 point car lift would be very ideal but in reality my car just fits  with only inches around spare and I have to do a Houdini escape trick to get out…getting good at it though,lol!

Finally got round doing the job…I jacked under the jacking points with a nice thick piece of wood to prevent damage and axle stand under the wishbone keeping the trolley jack still supporting the car as well as the axle stand for extra safety precaution.
Started with fronts washed,iron x'ed,tardis washing after each stage to remove the products dried thoroughly with aid of heated blower and microfibre.
Finally used eraser to ensure wheel surfaces are free from grease/oils and applied the Gtechniq C5.
The fronts were just ok to work on but have to admit the rears having more rubber and weight were a struggle to put back on mainly having trouble to lift and align the bolt holes at the same time whilst trying…trying to prevent any damage to the newly cleaned & C5 protected alloys
Must invest in a set of wheel alignment tools in future!
It must of taken at least 1 hour per wheel and by the 3rd alloy I've nearly had enough!

i really should take a pic of the 3t trolley jack my brother has which one of the bars on snapped! it fell down luckily causing no damage with what it was under at the time! and before anyone says cheap shit its a £100 machine mart one thats 7-8 yrs old

That just reinforces the old saying that you NEVER trust a trolley jack on its own.  Use of the axle stand as a backup was defo a good idea.

I also chock mine under two wheels to make sure it should not move in either direction, even more so when using wheel ramps.

I have to say it wasnt under a car at the time it was holding half a tractor (under 2t) justbto level apart. Always use axle stand under car tho
