Ctek

Post by bigsanj » Sat Feb 01, 2014 8:13 am

Hi all

Not been on for a while but working away more and more at the moment!!!!

Have a question for you, as im away the wife drives my company car as it saves pumping fuel into the 4.4. I have noticed upon my return that i get the odd light come up on the dash and realised that its probably a sign the battery is going flat.

The 4.4 has done 100 miles in 6 wks and probably will do the same in the next 6 wks.

Ive read on the forum about the Cteks and was wondering which one is the right one to go for.

You help would be appreciated as ive seen allot of people have them.

Many thanks

Any of the '8-stage' versions would be my recommendation as these include a reconditioning and maintenance function so you can leave them connected if so desired.

Ideally you should be looking at one giving at least 5 Amps output as the X5 battery is quite large and you want it to charge in a reasonable time.

The MXS5 'Test & Charge', MXS 7 or MXS 10 are all good for our vehicles.  Have a good look around for deals as there are some to be had.  I got my MXS10 at Xmas on a 60% discount deal.  :)

My ctek packed up - rare and never heard of this before

I bought and intelligent conditioning charger from Lidl last week to replace it - think it was £13.99 & does the job plus it has charge state indicator  - It's 120 amp so being pushed to its limits but it recharged from X5 4.4i battery from flat, (I left light on overnight), in just under 24hrs.
Gone - 2002 E53 X5 4.4i Sport (Pre Facelift) Owned 2006-2016.
