How easy is it to remove centre console?
How easy is it to remove centre console?
I'm really bored of having all black, everywhere.
Sapphire Black, with Black leather and Piano Black trim (at least headlining is white!!)
I've been offered a complete wood interior from 4.6iS for €250 which I'm really tempted by(does that sound ok price?),but I've been told the centre console is a b*****d to get out,can anyone confirm or deny pls??

I have taken the centre console out twice in my x5.....swapped from wood to piano black and then from piano black to silver carbon fibre. It takes a while to do - but not technically difficult, just a bit awkward. Slightly easier with a pan roof i found as you can stand up in the x and get a better lift on the console. Where you located? Milton keynes innit?

Re: How easy is it to remove centre console?
not too bad a job, a bit of fidling.
Pop out the hazard switch to reveal 1 screw, then the armrest cubby to reveal 2 more and 2screws holding in the rear seat vents - take these out to disconect their wiring.Pull off the carpet trim panels each side of the consol to reveal 1 screw each side in the front and disconnect the white electrical connector on the passenger side (UK) and then moving to the back 2 more low down. Pullout the heated seats/boot relase,HDC panel and disconnect then pull up the handbrake gaiter. Pull the gear selector knob straight up to remove and then the selector bezel. At this point you should be able to remove the consol back wards whilst lifting the rear at the same time feed the handbrake gaiter throught the hole. Job done !

Very kind offer , but I'm afraid that my X is a Left Hooker , so it won't fit .

Re: How easy is it to remove centre console?
Very lucky spot on ebay along with the silver cf steering wheel trim....both on ebay at the same time but from different sellers. Have seen a few sets of the dark cf but no other silver sets. Happy hunting! Still need the 4 door peices but will make do with the ones from my piano black interior set for now.
