We don't have a choice with the E70, only a button.

The E70 wakes up when you unlock it with the key, so no "boot up" required as such.
I've seen my glowplug light once in nearly a year of ownership, and that was when it was minus 8.

Re: Correct Way to Start the Engine
It may 'wake up' but the systems do not self test until you press the start button without the brake pedal being depressed. The CIC system also only boots up at that point. Or maybe the pre-2011 models are different?

Re: Correct Way to Start the Engine
The guy that fitted my alarm explained some issues that they had with flashing the indicators in the event of a warn-away, because they woke up the car and caused massive battery drain.
He said some of the systems pre-initialise before the driver opens the door. The glow plugs are almost certainly excluded from this procedure I'd suggest.

Re: Correct Way to Start the Engine
Agreed. My symbol came on for about a second this evening. But only when I pressed the start button with the brake on. 2C outside.... :cold:
