I'm currently exploring the possibility of having to sell the X5 (emmigration to the US).
Admitedly i'm a little lazy when it comes to cleaning the car but when looking over the car last weekend, I noticed a little rust on the rear door (drivers side) just along the widow seal (about the size of a finger nail).
This coupled with a keyed panel (rear passenger door) I picked up a few days before is somewhat of an annoying discovery.
Is this worth addressing prior to any sale or should I just price accordingly...maybe get a quote a knock off that plus a little extra off the asking price?

Is the 'key' scratch too deep to polish out? If possible then that one ought to be fixed if it can be done easily. You could stop the rust getting any worse with something like Rust Stop or similar which will convert the rust into a different mineral compound and you could then use a bit of touch up carefully to fill it.
Neither would be show stoppers to a purchaser as they are relatively easy to sort out and second hand cars are generally not going to come without some 'use marks'

Agree with Richard on this one having done a lot of corrective paintwork to mine. No damage but previous owner had the car sprayed and the colour was off. Not easy to notice unless you know it's there. Try not to let that become a headache for you, should you respray it - that will look worse than right now.
If you can polish the scratch out or make it less obvious without a respray, great. Touch up the other area, again don't bother respraying. If the prospective buyer then wants the issues resolved, you can negotiate a lower price. Otherwise sell it for what you consider a fair price.

I think i'll go down this route for now if the car goes up for sale.
I have already treated the rust spot with some ACF-50 to stop it from getting any worse. I'll keep an eye out on it for the time being.
