Interior trim change.....?

Post by Lee_thefirst » Tue Nov 30, 2010 10:38 pm

if I bought a car that had the "wood" effect trim..... can I change it to the silver trim? Does anyone know where to buy the silver trim?

This is gonna hurt....

Button it the rest of you!

I went from silver to wood...

It's easy to get most of the trim off but the centre console is not the easiest of jobs. Search for x555 and the centre console and you should be able to find a pic of what it's like. Happy to advise if you take the plunge!

BUT - buy OEM and they are stupid money, eBay have some come up for the £100 mark OR take yours off, get is sanded down and painted professionally to the desired colour of your choice, be that silver or otherwise. I'd now do the latter, if done again.

Even better, DIY, bit of time and prep but good results still possible.

Interesting thought about having them painted professionally..... has anyone else had this done or changed their trim from one colour to another?

You could take them off and wrap them... This is easier than painting and probably cheaper if you do it yourself. You can go for whatever effect you like i.e. Carbon, Metal Plate or just solid colours...

There was a post on Outpost where someone wrapped his trim in carbon fibre and it looked amazing. Sorry but can't find the link to it.

As Sanj said above ...yes you can change it and most of the bits just 'pop' of but the centre console is APITA as the size 10 torx screws (iirc) are underneath and a biiatch to get too.

Here's a few pics of when i did my previous x

There are usually a few sellers on fleabay with trim kits or as also said above have them painted ....or even get a cheap second set and have a go yourself :)
