Re: Sorry another tyre thread
Personally I would change all 4 or if fronts still meaty maybe try to source decent part worn Diamaris for rear of similar depth to fronts then swap to other brand when all 4 needing change.
I elected part worn for 2 before later replacing all 4, (with new Diamaris - got a good deal in part due to sourcing 2 new ones via private sale).
Vredetein Sennata or whatever they are called seem well repected though unsure re how long they last.
Tyremen actually recommending running all year on wintracs rather than summers all year. Have seen recent comments on another boards re lower mpg on wintracs though not reported here. Tbh if seeking winter snow grip 20's maybe not ideal & I would want grippier summer tyres March-thro-November.
Toyos over the Khumo not due to my expereience but as Toyo used to be more tried/tested stateside....perhaps you have researched more re Kumho's .
W rated on yours iirc.
OE 20's look the part but not cheap in for replacements in premium brands.

Re: Sorry another tyre thread
Rick,
I too have a 4.8iS.
I bought it from a BMW Dealer approved used about a year and a half ago.
It had 28k and had original Diamaris on front and a pair of brand new Bridgestone Dueller on rear. Dealer told me rears had about 3mm left but under approved used scheme they had to replace them.
Replaced the fronts at 42k with Vredestein Sessanta and have been very impressed. My wife had complained about excessive tramlining but this has now vanished.
From my research and experience, the Vreds are certainly a softer tyre than the Michelins and give a better ride. On the downside they clearly wear faster. I am now at 52k and plenty of wear left but the OEM Diamaris on my old 3.0d were good for well over 40k. I suspect I will be lucky to get 30k from the Vreds. However they were half the price of Diamaris!
I found Camskill cheapest for the Vreds (delivered by courier and then got local garage to fit them).
If you are go Diamaris, I found Costco cheapest (with 25% off for 4 offer running twice a year).
No views on other brands - I will fir Vreds to rear when Bridgestones get to 2-3mm.

I recorded the mileage (like a nerd ) and i will post up when they need changing and compare them to other tyres i have had price/mileage wise etc.

Hi,
My X5 had Toyo Proxes ( 20's ) on when I bought it last year. They looked fairly new & I have done about 10k miles on them.
Rears still have loads of tread but I've just replaced the fronts today. They are by no means worn out but with the winter weather here I thought it better to replace them. I've kept the originals though & intend to have them re-fitted in the summer as there's probably 3 or 4k miles left on them.
I've been really impressed with them overall & considering 315 section tyres are not exactly a good choice in snow I've had no problems so far.
Phil.
