E53 - 2006 BMW X5 Le Mans Blue Sport Edition 3.0d

Post by sunnydude959 » Sun Dec 29, 2013 9:54 pm

Hi Guys,

Newbie here! I bought a 2006 BMW X5 Le Mans Blue Sport Edition 3.0d a couple of weeks ago. We have had 2x E53's in our family before, but I never got round to registering here. I also have another BMW, and am quite familiar with BMWs on a consumer level (I haven't got into coding, etc... Well, not yet anyway!)

Exterior: Le Mans Blue
Interior: Black Exclusive Nappa
Interior Trim: Graphite

Options on top of 'Le Mans': Communications pack with TV, CD changer, bluetooth and BMW assist (which nobody ever used, so I have 3 years free service!), rear entertainment screen with DVD player (BMW Dealer-fit accessory). I think everything else was just part of Le Mans.

I have also changed all my interior bulbs to LED as part of this set I got off eBay (no interference with freeview TV or FM radio. PDC working fine too.)

Sunny.

Hi guys. Thanks for the welcome!

I'll try and get some photos next year (in other words, a couple of days).

These are the LEDs: http://bit.ly/Kfhip6

I was very skeptical about them considering their price, but it seemed to have worked out okay. One had started flickering, but he sent plenty of bulbs so I just threw that one away and used a spare.

He also sends a funny "set" for the E53.

From my recent experience, a proper full set should comprise of the following:

2x 42mm Festoon: for the vanity mirrors. However, I skipped this as the bulbs wanted to find their way "heavy side down" so they twisted until light was shining upwards instead of down through the lens.

8x wedge type bulbs: 3x front dome, 3 rear some and 2x tailgate (which shine into the boot). I don't have a rear dome light as I've got the DVD screen there instead with its own integrated dome lights (which are already LED)

10x 36mm Festoons: 2x numberplate, 2x rear footwells, 4x each door's puddle light, 2x front footwells

I haven't got round to investigating what bulb fits in the side mirrors (as a puddle lamp) - I haven't got the guts to try and open it up as I've read that it's very delicate.

The eBay guy sent me 8x 36mm, 8x wedge, 6x 42mm. I still had enough to do the whole car except my number plates, and I've now got 6 spare 42mm ones. It would cost more in postage to rectify it, but oh well nevermind.

I'll get some photos of my interior too with these bulbs too.

Sunny

So the vanity mirror LED's are wrong  and one of the bulds was flickering ..................small details but I suspect they might annoy me.

I only have two LED's on mine - in the trunk lid yet one of these flickers

Thanks for sharing the info - appreciated, however, I simply want to point, click buy and fit & ideally with bulbs that all work as and where they should without issue(s)

Hi, just bought a le mans myself a few weeks ago with pretty much the same spec as yours apart from interior colour (mine's cream). Had a few probz at first, but the dealer was spot on and sorted straight away which included new battery, New DVD player and a new sensor for the pdc!
So anyhow welcome to the forum from a fellow le mans owner  8)
