My shiny new wheels now fitted....

Post by dpbayly » Wed Dec 25, 2013 8:55 pm

Hi all, well finally got my new wheels fitted, Ive had them since last Wednesday but they were a gift from my wife although she only found out today that's what she got me....

Here's a few pics:

My old wheels first:

These are now ready for sale with good pirelli tyres £200 ;) SOLD  8)

Anyway now onto the new ones:

Ignore the BBS center caps they supplied the wrong ones and the BMW ones are on there way.

Wheel specs are as follows:

22 Inch
10J wide
Offset ET35
Fitted with 285/35 R22 tyres

I love the OEM look of these wheels as they look like the E70 style 214's just bigger.

:))
Love them....

And I was in a great position because before I broke it to her I'd bought the wheels I gave her her gift from me which was a handbag and purse from London's New Bond Street's Louis Vuitton at an immense expense in fact I could have bought 4 set of these wheels for the cost of her bag and purse, so I could have got any new toys for the X and she wouldn't have bat an eye lid.

So I was on a winner from the get go.

That's fine your never going to please everyone,

Only thing that really counts is I love them.

As for the ride its fine, I was running the same set up with 22's before so no difference and running 285/35 still gives you a decent amount of sidewall height to absorb shock and take impacts of normal road driving.

I like em better than the old (if that helps at all)?

As for presents, I have her a scarf!

BUT in my defense we have a house to build in 2014!

Well done buddy!

I know what you mean when I test fitted one last week after fitting the tyres when you stood back and looked you would never believe they were the same diameter,

Here's the pic comparing:

They look awesome fella! :) 100x better than the old wheels and like you say, they look much bigger too.

Can I ask if you have spacers on with these and if so, what size?

Im running 20mm spacers on the rear and the front is standard, Im lucky as my brother-in-law owns an engineering firm and he knocks me up little things like spacers and things as freebie's

Much prefer the new wheels as they look OE only a tad more in your face...but the smoked rear lenses  :nono:

I was told when I picked them up that they were a direct fit and no spigot rings were needed BUT the wheel center bore is 74.0mm and the X5 hub is 72.56mm so I had my brother-in-law knock me up some spigots (he owns and engineering firm) to make them fit perfect, there very thin but in my opinion they are needed to prevent wheel wobble.

Ive not run them without the custom spigot rings so I don't know how they would perform without them but with them there faultless and I get no wobble at all at any speed.
