Auto telescoping steering wheel

Post by martinglester » Fri Dec 20, 2013 11:57 am

Hi all,

My wheel retracts correctly when I turn the ignition off but very rarely returns fully to my memory position (quite often a long way off). I can usually get it to go back no problem with the manual control but this can be difficult as at times it will only move in small increments.

Rather than replace the whole motor I was wondering if anyone had managed to get the auto retract feature disabled? Thinking this will prolong the motors life plus me and the wife have it in the same position so there is no need to move it. I can see this has been looked at a few times but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer.

Thinking of buying a scanner 1.4 anyway so if this could do it it would make this an easier decision.

Thanks in advance! And sorry for the long winded post...

Hi. Not sure about scanner but deffinitly can be done with ncs expert.  Its comfort accses feature and can be disable, so steering wont move when You switch car off.

It would definitely be nice to still have the option to move it on the odd occasion that someone else drove it without having to plug it back in. Will have a chat with my local indy and see what he says.

Birthday coming up so think scanner might be an option then.

But would actually achieve what the OP requested...

Further to your comment NCS Expert deffo will disable it, as you i cannot say about scanner 1.4 though
It is a "Key Programmed" option so is easily turned off

Thanks for coming back guys, only after digging around do I now understand what ncs expert is! sounds like the better option than the scanner albeit a little bit more money.

And potentially a little more risky if you don't do it right!!

See other threads and decide for yourself though.
