As above. The steering seems to be a tad on the heavy side. It has standard sport alloys and pressures are good. Is this normal?

It's a two tonne vehicle so the steering is heavier than a car, especially at lower speeds. It should lighten up as the speed increases but it will never be 'light'.
Is you fluid level OK? No pipe leaks?

My steering rack had a little leak so I put a bottle of leak stop in it and it stopped the leak and made the steering alot lighter, even the wife noticed it!

i think its just the way bmw likes it. in fact everything is heavish. even a previous beamer i had was the same. in comparison a much more heavier land cruiser i've had could be turned lock to lock with car almost stationary with one finger.
It's a two tonne vehicle so the steering is heavier than a car, especially at lower speeds. It should lighten up as the speed increases but it will never be 'light'.
