Apple MacBook Pro 13.3" Oct 2011 A1278 Model

Post by Bigrichw » Thu Nov 28, 2013 7:51 am

For Sale
Apple MacBook Pro 13 Oct 2011 Model 500Gb HDD/8Gb RAM

Nottingham, Notts

Price: £650 ono

Condition: Second hand
Manufacturer: Apple
Model: A1278
Wireless: Yes
Hard Disk Size: 500 GB
Processor : 2.4 GHz
Memory: 8 GB

This is my MBP that I have had for about 20 months with only 143 charge cycles

It's not been used much (as I also have an iMac) but I now need a MacBook Air as I am travelling a lot more so would like something lighter.

It's running 8Gb RAM so running Parallels is a breeze.

Perfect working order no faults no damage no dead pixels

Cosmetically it is excellent. I wouldn't say perfect as it's been used, but that said I have always had a clip case / skin on it to keep it protected from life's little knocks and bumps... and will come supplied with it.

I don't have the original box I'm afraid.

Mains charger included.

Not a lot more to say really. Genuine reason for sale.

Disc will be formatted for new owner.

500Gb HDD
8Gb RAM
i5 dual core 2.4Ghz
13.3 LeD screen
Backlit keyboard
CD/DVD SuperDrive
latest OSX Mavericks Installed

Hi Bigrichw,

Good to see you have met the required minimum quotes  ;) . I am looking at one of these machines but have little idea of what I should be looking for.  How would yours compare to an off the shelve one and I would also be a little concerned about getting any issues fixed given a new one comes with a warranty.

Anyone else out there who could maybe let me know if they have any experience of the IMac.

Hi Don

Thanks for your message.

Here is a full item description of the one I am offering: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/m ... specs.html

But with upgraded RAM to 8Gb.

This is the 2013 model:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/m ... specs.html

Notably an SSD drive but only 256Gb compared to 500GB on mine.. and prices start £1099

You can still buy the 2012 model new for £999, with same similar spec as mine, but its got 2.5Ghz not 2.4Ghz, but still only 4Gb RAM.

Apple care can be purchased

Hope that helps?
Rich

Sorry I should also say that this is advertised elsewhere, and is getting quite a bit of interest.

Do you have a link to (I assume) the Ebay page?

Now one of your watchers.  I need to do a little research, thinking before considering a secondhand one over a new one.  Good luck with the sale in the meantime.

I bought a second hand MBP two years ago and it has been faultless.  Use windows based computers for work and hate them now in comparison!

Do you happen to know/can see in the book whether the wireless is 2.4GHz only or 2.4 & 5GHz?  2.4GHz is kinda crowded around here so I use more and more kit on 5GHz.  802.11n could be one or both bands.

Can the software licence keys be re-used, or will it need all new ones?

Standard AirPort: 802.11a/b/g/n (450 Mbit*)

Covers all standards.

OSX Mavericks will be installed ready for use.
Cheers
