AUX heater - 2004 E53 X5 3.0D Sport
AUX heater - 2004 E53 X5 3.0D Sport
I had a go at setting this up last night. i assuem the two timers are the start and finish times? After settig it up there was a red light ont he console which as I recall was then flashing when I came out to the car this morning as it was active. Unfortunatley, contrary to forecast there wasnt any ice last night so there was nothing to defrost but it only seemed to be blowing cold air on the windscreen - can I change the settings or do something different or does it only blow cold air (and if so what purpose does that serve as i cnat see if would defrost much?)
Re: AUX heater - 2004 E53 X5 3.0D Sport
i think the two timers are both start times, the unit should run for 30 minutes or until you start the car at least.
i do take it you have the aux heating and not just aux vent?

thats a good question and I will need to check as I didn't relaise there were two options. I can see the point of aux heat but what is the purpose of aux vent?

Aux vent can be useful in the Summer for cooling the car down after a hot day in the Sun
Set the timer for just before you go home and it helps reduce the 'oven effect'.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

You would probably find the Aussies saying the opposite

No because the car would already be cooler ish before you got in it as opposed to sweating like a pig while waiting for the aircon to kick in.The cool air from aux vent does help with the demisting of the screen aswell not brilliant but it does help

i kinda agree, ive also got the AUX VENT and not the AUX HEAT, i dont see the point in the cold air to be honest, it should really be a switchable option of heat or cold vent !!

Aux vent is to blow ambient air into the car when it's hot during summer months - sort of inverse of the aux heating, so there is a point, though having used it on a couple of BMWs now I have to say that it struggles to cool down a car standing in blazing sunshine.
