just wondering what the assessment entails? is it easy to get through just the re assessment fees are high to say the least!

Not done it myself but as I understand it you will complete various work and with the owners permission have the installation checked by an assessor. 

You need several different types of work assessed before you get approved, and then as you say it's the £1k ish annual fee thereafter.  I also believe that there is a fair amount of paperwork to do too.

If you have enough time energy and work to justify it then it has to be worth a go, my mate has just come out of it and is enjoying having some time a home instead of working 7 days a week.
