What're you do don't have a go on someone else's bike that has the Di2 electronic shifters on, or you won't want to go back to your cable driven brifters. The Di2 brifters look similar but the levers are just micro switches, one touch perfect shifting especially the front deraileur which shifts in a millisecond from one chainring to the other, also it auto trims so when the rear is moving down the cassette it adjusts it so you never get that annoying chain rub on the front derailier cage. It is a fly by wire system with stepper motors built into the front and rear deraleur.
It has a rechargeable battery that sits under the bottom bracket, the battery needs charging every 3 months or so

I know this is an older thread now but could not help bringing it back alive when reading through it again.

As mentioned above, Di2 is amazing. I was used to mechanical Ultegra (which I have on my all rounder) so hardly rubbish kit.
However my 'good' bike wears Dura Ace Di2 which is just amazing. First time you use it, that first shift will catch you out if you look to go up the block as the brake lever does not do the change like most mech shimano sti.

The shift is fast, super slick and the front derailleur auto trim feature is lovely. It makes a great sound too.

I used to be a mtber mainly but now more roadie. Although might need a hip replacement soon :(

Well, being hit by a car when I was 18 while cycling, if that counts.

I have 5 bikes at the mo.  A brand new carbon Felt Z4,  631 steel Aravis audax/tourer bike, alloy Specialised Allez Comp, 531 steel retro Revell racer, circa 1983 and a steel Spesh Rockhopper, circa 1993 that I use for the occasional commute.  The Felt, and Aravis have 10 speed Ultegra and the Allez Comp has 9 speed Ultegra.  The Rockhopper has a LX/Deore/Alivio mix.  The Revell has 5 speed Suntour Cyclone gears with a Stronlight compact double, all authentic mid '80s stuff.  Love it. :)

Have that too - a 4 bike rack in the garage though. Plus a 4 bike career for the car :)

I like the fact that with my X5 I can get my carbon bikes (carbon wheels on one of them) so no strapping them / clamping them. Don't even need to take a wheel out.

Good article just a shame you enter a comp & win something that is no use to you would have been better to auction the bike for charity & give him a new car instead !
Bought a Turbo trainer but just can't seem to get into it , at least the weather holding out so still getting out on m carbon still not seen another .

Must admit I go through highs and lows of motivation when it comes to the turbo!

I do believe there are sufferfest vids now linked to strava, etc. But I'm not into that.

I do have an 'intervals' routine that I like to do but I have to be int he right frame of mind, mainly as I'm riding hurt though.

Mountainbiking is my thing-love it. Had the prophet 6 years now and it still holds its own against much of the new stuff. The lefty strut is fantastic with 140 play, very little flex yet still light enough.
