Any experience Vredestein Wintrac 4 Xtreme

Post by ChrisLux » Wed Nov 13, 2013 12:06 pm

Need to replace my Winter tyres this season , and I've been using Yokos or Contis last few seasons , but
it appears they haven't got these in stock at mom and they can only offer me these Vredesteins at €760
the set all in . Problem is I have no experience of them at all !! Anyone use these , know if they're any good
and that's a decent price for them pls ??

I used them on the Q7 last winter. Great in snow and ice, but a little noisy on dry tarmac.
The price sounds about right.

I have had them on 18s for my winter tyres for the last 3 winters and think that they are fantastic. I drive from London to the Alps twice every winter in Obergurgl at over 2000m. The grip is great on all surfaces and particularly impressive on fresh snow falling on packed ice. They were so good, I went with Vred Sessanta for my summer 20s. Funnily enough got them out last weekend with a view to putting them on this weekend and they are wearing well (probably 15k)
Price sounds about right

On price, I have seen them advertised here at £122 a corner (18s)-
www.tyreleader.co.uk - never heard of them!
Camskill around £145.
But there is then fitting , balancing etc.

I had a set of them on mine, brilliant, never even had the traction control light. Flicker, even in snow. I even left them on all last year they didn't wear much either. I fitted the same 285 rear and 255 up front, no need to go skinny and to 18's. Just left them on when I part exed it last week. I got them from TYREMEN on the net, delivery was free I think to my local tyre place, they were dispatched next day too.

I've got them on my winter rims (19") and really pleased with them, much better ride than the 20" run flats. Sourced mine from Camskill and had them fitted by a friendly tyre fitter for a £20 drink.

Not used them before but www.tyrexpress.com look very competitive on price. Looking for a set of winters for my daughters 1 series and look to be best around

Well my first experience of driving with them last night in the rain/sleet was they seem to have made the
steering feel lighter than the previous Yoko winter's that were on before . And the sidewall doesn't seem to
be as 'strong' , felt the car 'wobbling' a bit especially in corners . Will have to check tyre pressures etc this eve .

Oh , BTW , before anyone says anything , my Summer and Winter tyres are all the same size 17'' so shud be
relatively comparable .
