ps2 install

Post by DSowerby » Fri Oct 18, 2013 12:43 am

Hi chaps

Looking at putting ps2 slim in x5 Found an rca lead on the bay to get picture on screen but not sure how to hard wire inverter. Most come with a cigarette socket on end. Could I just simply cut of end and wire to back of cigarette socket? Or should I wire straight to batt with a relay t which activates when ignition is on.

Cheers

Hi Mate,

I fitted a slim line PS2 to mine and used a cable similar to this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Sony-PS2-Slimline-70XXX-In-Car-Charger-Power-Supply-12V-Adaptor-in-UK-/290621393620?pt=UK_Video_Games_Cables_and_Adaptors&hash=item43aa628ad4

I just chopped the cigarette end off and joined it the cables to a relay which took power from the battery and then remote turn on from the main audio relay in the right hand cupboard.

Hope this helps

Cheers
James

Thanks for the reply pal, the lead is what I got saved on the bay. Don't suppose you have a drawing of the main audio relay

I don't unfortunately mate I think it was the left hand blue relay on the left off the top of my head.

I think Sanj told me which one it was. Sanj can you help?

If not if you have a multi-meter you can test each relay until you find one which is ignition switched.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

Thanks
James

I wired up to ignition positive so the PS2 shuts down when the car is switched off.

I recommend a wireless joystick it's easier to handle when you're driving
