Took my 2010 35d in for a routine brake fluid change recently and I happened to use my 'spare' key - ie the one I don't often use. The mirrors weren't set up quite right so I adjusted them , but the passenger side one wouldn't move up or down (side to side was ok). Of course this is the mirror that gets moved the most as it's the one that dips when the car is put into reverse.
Anyway - cutting to the chase - the motor was replaced under warranty. The car is 4 months from the end of the 4 year warranty so probably a good time to change the mirror motor! (Got 73000 km on it now). I think I'll be doing a good shake down of all functions in advance of the car reaching the 4 year mark to get any niggles sorted out...

Re: Passenger side mirror motor failure
Good thing it was under warranty......
BMW have apparently instructed all Dealers to offer free 'end of warranty' checks to make sure there are no nasties lurking. Mine was done today - along with the 1st MOT (a pass
) - and a full vehicle safety check. I assume BMW are paying as I can't see many Dealer Pricipals offering it as a 'goodwill' gesture.... >:(
Nothing found.
