Hi all just joined up and looking forward to X5 ownership.

Went to look at a 4.6is today and need a bit of advice.

The tempature gauge only rises to the centre when stationary, once driving it falls back to halfway between normal and cold.....also the oil temp gauge is very slow to rise, after 45 mins of constant driving it had only slightly up....

Should I walk away? Apart from that it's a beautiful example.

Cheers guys

John.

Certainly needs a new thermostat and there may be other issues.  Unless you want to spend your own money fixing it, walk away.  Or talk the seller down price wise....... ;)

Oh and Welcome..... :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I would walk away from it because its a 4.6. While I've been on this forum most who have bought a 4.6 have had major engine problems, go for a 4.4 or a 4.8 if you can afford to replace the all round air suspension.  :)
I know this sounds negative, but spend a bit of time searching past posts on the problems members have had with these motors, just trying to save you the grief.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

It may be worth reading the E53 buying guide as it is really comprehensive and i found it has a lot of useful info on deciding which model and what to look at and expect on the cars.
