I don't think there's any doubt it's too expensive.

If anyone is looking to sell something in similar condition then please get in touch!

Hi,

That motor you are interested looks like a seriously nice machine but its way over priced. As per earlier in this thread im the guy that bought Nats 4.8is.

At the time of purchase, March this year it had approx 60k on it and I paid £10, 200 for it if I recall correctly (might have been a little more but certainly not by much). Mine has a really good spec with 10k worth of extras, making it almost a £70k car when new. To this end I feel they offer excellent used car value at the price I paid. In the 7 months of ownership ive put 7k miles on her, many of which by taking my family away for long weekends and 2 uk based holidays which for me was the whole point of buying a luxury family car.

Mine is 2004 but only 7 months or so older than the one that interests you, granted mine was a private sale rather than the premium you pay at the forecourt but I just highlight what you can pick up. Also during the time with me its not missed a beat- not surprising as it sounds like theres not much left to go wrong. I've spent nothing on her apart from an oil change. Think Nat must have had all the bad luck fingers crossed- sorry Nat!!

If I were you I'd still be trying to buy the car, just not at that price.  I'd  offer them somewhere around a max of 12k or walk away and be patient.

Hi,

Thats great news...........so pleased you are happy and that lucifer is behaving himself.
I don't think there was much more that could be replaced on it.

Wait till winter and the snow arrives........you'll have a lot of fun with it then.

Regards,

Nat.

I haven't been on here for a very long time and it is nice to see that the 4.8is is still a hot topic...

They are fantastic cars and the reason I haven't yet changed is that it still puts a smile on my face when I drive it every 6 weeks. I probably wouldn't be as happy with it though if I didn't have the BMW Warranty as it has had its fair share of problems but with no cost to me. Like Condor, I have kept this going but not sure how long I will carry on.

I bought mine in March 2009 for £17k - I am stunned to see one at around that price now and I would suggest like others that there is a good few thousand to be knocked off the price and perhaps a set of winter wheels and tyres thrown in the deal.

Personally, I would rather a very high spec late E53 over a low spec, high miles early E70 for those that are suggesting such.

Well I'm the idiot that bought the one at Cooper Durham. It's for my wife so she'll love the comfort seats. There aren't many 1 owner sub 40000 mile face-lift E53 4.8is's knocking around with FBMWSH, warranty which will be relatively cheap to renew because of the mileage....and some nice optional extra's- rear blinds, rear heated seats etc. etc. I have main dealer contacts and know enough about the car.
I always buy on condition, the nice one's I've seen have been between £10-15k for 05-06 cars and I'm only interested in mint cars.
I also spoke to BMW Warranty Services re: the cost of warranty on a very nice but significantly cheaper privately owned 4.8is with 70k miles on it - with warranty on it currently renewed on a monthly basis and was quoted £2087 for a zero excess policy which will only rise when renewing in 12 months time. This car will cost me roughly <£1000 to renew the policy on with a zero excess.
I'll probably keep the car for three years.
Maybe I've paid a little over the odds for what I believe is a rare car in that condition, mileage and spec.
But heck, the wife's happy, so I'm happy!
Although I'd be lying if i wasn't planning on driving it a little myself!
Just need to throw some 21" alpina dynamic rims on it and I think it'll look pretty special.

Tbh Sy, I would say you have bought the right motor as it ticks your required boxes. It is a very well specced motor and I'm still searching for a set of rear blinds to complete my options list.

A car is worth what someone feels is justified by themselves to be worth at the end if the day and you will save with the warranty for sure.

It was over priced but if your happy (and more importantly the mrs is happy) then that really is all that matters. As Raj says above its ticks all your boxes so why not?

Alpinas? Im surprised Raj hasnt mentioned his pristine set up for sale yet!

Yeah I thought something behind the scenes might have been happening for you not to offer them at the first chance!
