T91 Telestart for remote heater

Post by paulbryson75 » Sat Nov 20, 2010 8:40 pm

I have a T91 telestart for my auxy heater - bought this last year from someone off the old site and it worked great. Problem is i did not have the correct 6 pin connector - i wired up the three wires direct to the unit, one of these wires has now come out and I can not remember or find the instructions as to which wire goes to which pin!!!
I have a white/green wire, Red/Black wire and a Brown wire?????? Need to know which wire goes to each pin??? 6pins only three wires
Can't remember whom I bought it off but he sent me instructions on how to wire - of course have lost these!
Anyone know where i could source the 6 pin connector plug???
In the photos below the 'plug' goes where you can see the three fine wires going into the unit - bottom right of photo
Thanks as always
Paul

The telestart is the means of operating your Webasto heater as OEM fitted. Units are source (usually from German EBAY) to include the telestart module, which plugs into the boot into the wiring loom behind the battery. An antenna can also be fitted. A key fob - with on and off button is then used to start/stop the auxy heater. My unit originated off a landrover/range rover.
Audis, mercs, RR, Skodas as well as 5/7 series all have webastos and there is a huge amount of info on the web - i have trawled loads of it this weekend!!
I bought my telestart off a guy on the old X5 site - really is great mod - though have had problems - would appear as of today to have been caused by a done battery.
When the auxy heating option was ordered at build BMW charged I believe in the region of 600 quid to supply the telestart and key fob - you can do this yourself for well under 100. There is another way of activating the webasto - see extensive post in the 'how to' section for even less money and equally as effective.
If yours comes with the correct plug it simply plugs into the BMW plug - Mine did not come with plug hence the need for me to wire direct to the pins.

Try this part number 61 13 6 909 058 it`s a 6 pin male connector. 61 13 0 005 197 are the pin contacts with a lenght of wire
that fit into the 6 pin male connector. Take your telestart module along to the dealers and see if the 6 pin male connector fits into
the telestart module before you purchase ,if it doesn`t ask them for one that does.

Cheers x man will do that. At moment have just wired it with little pins from maplins not ideal!

Draining battery- only twice but this would appear to be due to the cars battery as opposed to any fault with the heater

No! Them cars are rubbish - E53's were always the best!

Seriously though - only poss if you have the heater already fitting. A right pig of a job to retro-fit if not one that most won't take on.

Look under the hood for anything called a Webasto - they may be a different manufacturer on the E70 but on the E53 that's what they were.

I was wondering the same thing about X6 diesels. I'm told the nits may not be in te actual engine bay, but might be in the front wings. Apparently you should e able to find te exhaust unit underneath. Can't see one on mine but tn 90% of the underside is covered in aerodynamic & protection covers. These things must e ightmare to work on given half the car has to come off just to be able to see things!

I'll have another look under the hood tomorrow. The new units are completely different though and might be a Thermo Top Evo 5+ or Themo Top P. I suppose it might be in the wings given they are plastic ( sorry, High Quality, Lightweight Materials ). :D
