My X5 went into the main dealers yesterday for a service (oil n filter change etc etc) when my X5 was returned to me it now has the DSC warning light on all the time, the hill decent don't work (think its because of the DSC) and i now dont have any parking sensors working front or back !!
So i went back into Chandlers BMW this morning and they have said its nothing to do with them !! My car was faultless prior to having a service and now i am really not happy.
What do you guys think ? Should i call the back and put a stop on my cheque for the service ?

If the light was on when the car came back, then it's their fault to fix.
Same thing happened with a friend of ours who had the cam belt changed on her Peugeot and the Dealer got it wrong. The car was smoking badly and was taken back. Dealer had to fit a new engine!
Stand your ground and tell them the fault wasn't there when it went in so must have occurred whilst in their care.

They started going on saying the fault had come up be for hand several thousand miles back for the DSC light and the parking sensors. And that this was logged on there records. I have only had the car myself for a year and have had no real problems at all.
I have had a new quality battery 6 months ago and basically kept the car in tip top condition.
I am so fed up with Chandlers BMW as this is my first time of using a main dealer.
They started going on saying the fault had come up be for hand several thousand miles back for the DSC light and the parking sensors. And that this was logged on there records. I have only had the car myself for a year and have had no real problems at all.

hi are nt they under a code to obviously point out the faults found ? & would this be an MOT failure as they should nt have let you take the car if it is unsafe to drive !
Mention that you would like a customer complaint form to fill in or speak with the dealer principle or his managers number normally works for me as they are rated by the customer feed back every month .

I had a phone call from Chandlers yesterday at 6pm.
They have said this is a coincidence that the DSC light and the parking sensors failed after they did an oil and filter change.
They said that doing an Oil and filter change would NOT cause any of the faults to crop up as they have not touched any other part on the car to cause this to happen.
They said the systems that control these items are at different ends of the car and would not have been touched.
They have said the cost to sort out the DSC system and the parking sensors and diagnostics would cost £618.41 but they will discount this to £376.20. They have said they are offering the discount after speaking to there boss about this situation.

If the lights were on at the point if return they should look into it to at least diagnose the issue if nothing else.
But personally I'd get them to inform you of the issue and why exactly they want to replace and this should be free of charge for the diagnostics.
Dependant upon what the issues are you can then negotiate the cost.
