Bugger....

Went out last night and noticed the brake light LED's are flickering.....

Any thoughts how to get rid of this?

Its very minor but I guess this is a problem...

Most likely a coding issue on the light Check control.
You couls get away with turning the check off using a scanner.
Think the 4.1 jobbie will do it.

Check control sends a pulse along the lights to check for load.
hence the flashing.
There are hot and cold check modes.
(ie when lights are on, and when off respectively)

You can turn either or both off depending on your preference
I know this can be done with NCS Expert.
I think it can be done with Navcoder & Scanner 4.1

With LED then i think you should be OK to turn both off and be done with it.

Thanks for that.

Do you know if I can turn off the brake light check but still keep everything else? Indicator light check etc?..

Just need to add a resistor in line to sort it then no need to code out the check control.

Yes you can

Any option can be selected / unselected for most individual lamps.
As far as i can remember you cnat select left or right number plate lights (But may be wrong on that.
Would need to check.

Resistor method, although would work, can affect currents and brightness if done wrong!!
at end of day the resistor would be generating heat by dissipating the current NOT used by the lights.
A rather in-efficient method.

Thanks again guys..

So I can get rid of the warning bing bongs but the fkickering would remain. Its very minor so I dont see a problem with that but would it be an MOT failure??

In line main positive wire. Do the same for the angel eye rings as thy come with then in line too. Tricks the check control to see a standard bulb resistance... :P

Turning off the check control will stop the flickering also as it will not pulse the supply to see the bulb..

So I installed the exact same lights at the weekend and to start with the Pins from the loom didn't line up with the connector on the lights. Everything worked except the side lights. I got the multimeter out (Thanks Sanj) and traced the wire and it turned out Pin 1 was the side lights so I had to move that to Pin 4 on the loom plug.
Success Lights all worked............ But the side lights now flicker and I get the "Check Tail Lights" message.

Strange because my Brake lights are absolutely fine whereas Dimsum's flicker....

Steamyrotter - I have Navcoder installed and will turn off the check controls when I get home to see if I can remove the flickering.

Will let you know the results :)
