New owner of X5 3.0i e53 - help with air suspension

Post by dezy » Fri Sep 20, 2013 11:20 am

Hi all, i'm new to this forum but hope someone can help,

I noticed that the rear left of the car was sagging when i came out in the morning (no error messages) i assumed that i had a bag leak so decided to change both rear airbags, the next morning still sagging down on the left hand side, still no error message. when i unlock the car the compressor starts up and the car is fine whilst driving, it only starts to sagging when it goes into sleep mode. I have check the fuse's (all ok) cant find any air leaks anywhere. i had it checked out on a GT1 system and all come back fine. I don't what to do next hopefully someone will be able to help  :(

Welcome aboard. I've replied to your pm so hopefully you'll get it sorted.

The air leak can be the airline itself or the canister etc etc so the actual airbag can be fine.

Hi Raj, thanks for the info, i have tested all the lines and can not find the leak. I thought if i had a leak then the compressor would be running all the time to keep the level but once pumped up it's fine until the car goes into sleep mode. I'm thinking of just swapping out for coil springs i have found a kit on ebay could you confirm that this is all i need to do the job cheers Dezy
