Approx valuation

Post by Pete » Mon Sep 16, 2013 12:33 pm

Hi, I am looking for your help in setting a sensible valuation for my x5.  Unfortunately I will have to move it on as I need to free up money as I am at my wits end in my current job and simply need to get out.  The car was purchased via this site 3 years ago (off Petert) and has been well looked after ever since and has been phenominal for me :'(.

We buy any car have offered £5500 without me mentioning the upgrades.

Spec

Silver 54reg 3.0i X5 Sport (facelift)
4 previous owners (owned by me since 2010)
77k
Sat Nav with analog TV
Bluetooth phone
Lots of service history
Heated Leather memory seats
Charcoal headling
TV's in headrests
Rubber mats and moulded boot floor cover.
Excellent bodywork (only thing I can criticise is the flimsy plastic grill on the front is missing a little bit where a stone must have hit it and I have never tried to replace it).
Alloys in very good condition
Intravee interface (i might remove and sell seperately).

Thanks in advance (photos to follow and will add to the for sale section).

not been harsh but if you want a quick sale i would take the £5500,  i wouldnt think you will get loads more, perhaps another £1000 or so if your lucky enough to sell, then you will get all the dreamers buyers with no money etc etc

I've been looking at prices and what's selling for about a month now and have to agree, because it's a 3.0i, I wouldn't expect to get much more than 5.5k.

thats what i do, but 6 month ago i had my 3.0d for sale at 10k near priced to all others and nothing was shifting, at the time we want anycar actually offered £7800 after inspection which i turned down, i then kept it another 3 months spent £x on adverts only to sell it for £7700? mine was a fully loaded 55 plate diesel le mans edition, so i would snap their hand off!

ps we buy any car and we want any car inspected my car and we want any cars offer was £400 more after inspection

Thanks for the feedback, if I take it to We Buy any car do I have to sell it or is it simply an inspection?

I was thinking of putting it up for sale privately at say £6850 ono as I was hoping for about £6.5k - does this seem reasonable?

I doubt they'll actually pay what they are offering. They give you an online valuation but knock you down something rotten when they actually come to inspect/pay. Remember - they are in the business to make money. They want to pay as little as possible and sell for as much as possible. You have a good idea of market value so they will need to pay significantly less in order to make their profit.

When I went to see both wbac tried everything to knock money off, wwac coulnt fault it or knock any off, wwac let slip they have dealerships to sell the cars in, at the end of the day there's nothing to loose in going but if put for sale at 6800 realistically if you have any intrest they're going to offer 6k+ so not that far off, rember if you try and sell private for a month and go bac to wwac they will de value it more, personally I think wanting 6800 for a petrol that's not the flagship 4.8is is very strong money and a lot of the competion will be similar spec\age diesels and it will be a small minority that choose petrol given the mpg if the prices are the same

Just my view, do what you feel comfortable with

Really appreciate all of the input.  I will meet with the higher offer company and will sell it so long as they don't try to knock it down.  Again, there are the upgrades that I have not mentioned so hopefully it will count in my favour should they start being picky, if I'm not happy I will drive home.
