Hello there, after many unsuccessful attempts to pair my iPhone 4 to the telephone whilst following the instructions according to the BMW handbook and several other ideas on this forum, this finally worked for me:
Press the phone button on the centre arm rest
Turn ignition to position 1 whilst keeping the button pressed
Watch for the 3 lights above the top right hand side of the TV screen flash, as soon as the first flash occurs release the button - this happened very quickly!
Bluetooth pairing should then appear on screen
enter passkey and hey presto!
Obviously your bluetooth should be active on your phone and be discoverable before you start.
I had previously observed the lights flash but continued to press the centre armrest phone button down as per the manual for the additional 3 seconds. The lights would continue to flash with the message activate phone still on the TV, therefore, no pairing! It still would not pair following the 3 seconds and the subsequent release of the button!
