Yesterday, 10 minutes into a 3 hour journey (it never happens when you set out to the shops does it) I had the Fuel Inj warning light pop up on the dash and then noticed a distinct lack of power as if the turbo wasn't kicking in. Then came the stink of escaping diesel and a murky mess spraying up onto the rear window. Time to pull over me thinks!
As I stopped so did the engine, presumably through lack of fuel as I soon noticed a trail of the stuff up the road after getting out to investigate. After hastily removing wife and child to a safe distance I called the AA and waited, and waited, and waited! Anyway, long story short it was 5 hours before the X was eventually put onto the recovery truck and on its way to my local garage.

My regular mechanic is no X5 expert and was a little cautious after locating the source of the leak which appears to be from a faulty gasket between the fuel pump that is attached to the engine and a small block that is attached to the side of the fuel pump with four bolts/screws.
Can anyone advise if this gasket is available separately or does this mean a complete replacement fuel pump (mega money I know) and also is this repair a simple one or will a regular mechanic struggle?
Cheers in advance chaps
