there is one really simply and easy answer to your questions about the car being five years old and only doing 26,000 miles LOL

we live in jersey channels islands UK,
I can well believe it. Munich Legends used to source a load of E30 M3s, E28 & E34 M5 and E24s from there, even the 14 year old E24s would have 20-25k on them at worst. Of course, they did charge accordingly......

Trouble is, having a low mileage car can be as bad as having a higher miler. Chances are, most journeys don't see the car getting up to optimal temperature and/or it spends a long time sat around between journeys and that can causee things to seize, wear out quicker and require just as much maintenance.
I hope you get it all sorted. the E53 X5 has so many features some are bound to fail, I too feel like I'm forever having to get things tweaking, fixed or replaced.

As for you quote I think your still being stung. £119 for coolent is madness, it's a 10 minute job to flus the system and bleed with only £9 of BMW coolent to complete.

well i should have updated after ranting so much about the cost of BMW dealer reapir qoute.

i went hunting around and found that most of teh guys at my work who have german cars (vw, audi, BMW) take thier cars to this one garage.

phoned them up telling what was wrong with my car and that it needed a service as well.

well within an hour they phoned me back telling me the repair would cost, 160 quid and the service including, all of the OVERALLY priced "extras" (remember thats the collent, brake fluid and fuel filtre change that the dealer qouted for) are part of the would cost me about 330 quid!

so yeah going to this guy! :P

i have considered phoning the manager of the BMW dealer and encouring how a service which included everthing they qouted me could cost a third the price at another garage, and the total repair bill for the car would be half thier price!
