Aux in bluetooth

Sorry another question.

I have seen the threads about fitting an Aux in lead into the Mk4 sat nav from the glove box, this seems fairly simple and cheap.

I would like a bluetooth receiver on the end of this so I could stream stereo bluetooth audio into the Mk4 unit. Is there a way of doing this? I appreciate there are bluetooth receivers which need batteries and hence charging but ideally I want one that can be plugged into something and the Aux in lead to make it completely self contained.

Is this possible?

You would have to source power as there is none provided by that input point.  The lead once fitted is no more than a headphone input (uses the headphone port on an iDevice/MP3 player etc).  As long as any Bluetooth device can give you an analogue headphone out equivalent then it should work.

That's the question I'm asking: how do I get power / a USB socket to the glovebox? There are quite a few microusb bluetooth powered devices on amazon but it's the power I am wondering about.

USB isn't supported so you will need to find a different approach.  The E53 has no 'USB host' capability.  That only arrived on the E70/71 series.  If memory serves, USB is a digital system not analogue so that will not give you an analogue audio output to feed to the Mk4 head Aux In.

I want to add a bluetooth device to this analogue input. I want this device to be powered all the time so I don't need to charge it - I thought this would be easiest to do using a USB port for 5v power.

Can you help with getting a USB port for power into the glove box?

buy a cheap 12v to usb plug in adaptor off e-bay.
add into it a free 12v aux socket and wire it to the supply to the radio.
This socket will then power the bluetooth module but only when power is applied to the radio and wont draw on battery when ignition off

Isn't there something that you could plug into the CD cables in the boot? I mean power is nearby.... there's a pre wired connection to the HU?

I was sort of thinking with the cost of stuff these days there must be something Blue Tooth that could drop straight onto (or maybe with a littel messing) the boot CD cables?
