Depends which year of data disc is in.  7-digit post code is supported but you may need a newer disc (something to get the Dealer to provide as part of the deal).  Even then the system does not recognise all 7-digit codes.

I have been running my 40d from new for 6 months. I also have the msport with the 19" wheels. Its a monster of a car in every sense - crazy quick for a 2.5 tonne beast, eats up the miles effortlessly, has masses of space for the family and it very refined and comfortable.

My car came with continental UHP runflats and I was initially very inpressed with the ride and handling combination, very quiet too. I decided on the 19" set up as the car I test drove had 20" wheels and the ride was pretty bad - I live in Sheffield and our roads are appauling. I agree the 19's dont look as dynamic as the 20's but I think they give the car a more rugged look. After 8k the outer shoulders were starting to wear so sytners did a whell alignment and adjusted the front settings and this seems to have halted the uneven wear. But keep a strong eye on those pressures to avoid uneven wear - I run mine .2 bar above standard. I have heard horror stories of the rears going on the 20"ers in less than 10k

I recently changed the conti's for Pirelli PZero's - also runflats and these have been a revelation! Mush more steering feel, better turn in, quieter and the ride is way better than the conti's - i recommend these tyres to anyone running on 19's - they are superb.

I have achieved 34mpg over 10k, most of the miles are done on the motorway between 70 and 80mph so I am disappointed with the economy as I have always beaten BMW's numbers in all my other cars to date, but the only way to get near to 38mpg is to do 60 on the motorway.

THe car has lived on a pure diet of shell vpower from new, I am a big fan of this fuel and would recommend it if you feel the extra is worth it.

I've had BMW's in the past where I have swapped the runflats off and enjoyed a big improvement in ride quality, but the runflats are very good now and I think on a big beast like an X5 the thought of a blow out on the motorway in a 2.5 tonne car makes me think the RF's are a much more sensible bet. As I said the ride on the Contis was ok, but the Pirellis are much better.

Overall i love the car, it looks good, goes great and is superb to do distances in.

According to the AA, average diesel price is £1.41 per litre.  85 x £1.41 = £119.85
Current: 2012 X5 MSport 3.0d - carbon black, 3rd row, panoramic, media, TV, top-view camera, power boot.
Former: 2006 520d SE (E60) - auto, black leather

Ahh yeah, but with a big tank it will last longer than a standard car would with alot smaller tank.
I think the petrol pump fiddled you there Leo so you think you are getting more for your money ;)

I never fill mine up - why carry around all that extra weight in a car already weighing in at 2.5 tonnes  ::)

Cos I've got better things to do than refuel the car twice as many times as I already do - like post on here. :))

I also like to see how many miles I can get from a full tank. My record is 620.

If the wife agrees to have my car then i will part ex her car and get myself the X5 soon.

Im thinking of this: http://www.cooperbmw.co.uk/used-BMW-X5- ... V-YH62OPW/
I know it hasnt got top spec but i like it because its newer and less miles and more warranty rather than an older one with more spec and more miles and less warranty.

But what i am worried about is the corrosion around the centre cap. Did Bmw solve this problem ? Did it only occur on the 2010/2011 ones ?

And if they do corrode will they be replaced under warranty even though they do not manufacture these to put on X5's anymore ?

Do they all still have the problem of the tyres wearing on the edges/shoulders ?
Even though this is a 62 plate will the problem have been rectified ?
If the tyre pressure is increased will this mean that it will not wear on the shoulders as much ?

Sorry for all the questions just need to make sure i have researched and i am doing right before going ahead and spending this large amount of money.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Lots of questions that I can't answer and ones that I never asked when I bought my x35d as an approved used car 3 months!

The white 40d looks fab, and you will benefit from two years of warranty.  It doesn't had sun protection glass, that I would definitely want on a white X5.

Good luck whatever you decide.
