So what kind of materials are Jaguar using?

Post by X5Sport » Mon Sep 02, 2013 5:09 pm

Saw this article about a Jaguar being melted in the sun in London....

Melted Jaguar

The materials must be of a strange type as the paint is unmarked but the panel material has given up.  Both steel and ali have to get to several hundred Deg C for them to distort, so are Jag using plastics?

Wow! Going by the £900 odd repair costs I'm guessing it is a door mirror assembly and possibly a plastic A post trim. Being a black car also did not help either.  The building must concentrate the light and as the sun moves the location of the 'hot spot' moves and conveniently melts Jags!

A bit like as kids we used to roast insects using a magnifying glass! :))

I work next to the walkie. There are loads of tourists with thermometers etc seeing how hot it can get. Someone recorded close to 90'c!
