Post by ChrisLux » Fri Aug 30, 2013 2:44 pm

As the title basically .
I was reading the owners manual sat in traffic last w/e and i came across BFD .
Then during the week flicking thru a few forums I came across 2 threads on E46 & M forums where
people have activated them with their own DIS set-up , can it be done on X5's too ??

Another set of brake light bulbs come on if you stamp on the anchors.

I thought they were always switched on

There was an E92 m3 at spa on track with us last month and it was braking so hard in to the corners that they came on ten

Yes.

NCS Expert will do that, assuming you have the right year module in the system.
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Likewise.....unless the OP wants them to always work when the brakes are applied?

Had a blast down the road outside work a couple of nights back with a work colleague sticking close, however as the road started to runout he was backing off.  I left the braking really late and therefore hit them hard.  The colleague said a second set of brake lights came on and flashed which he said got his attention, but he also felt that I had over cooked it and was heading for the bushes.

The torque display might have been interesting as you powered up again.  These things may be 2-tonnes, but they do handle.  I wouldn't try it with an E70, but the X6 does seem to tempt one.... O:-)

I wired a strobe unit onto my M3 that flashed the brake lights about 5 times a second when braking hard, i believe Volvos do something similar.

Its been proven to elevate the following vehicle's driver awareness
Currently :
2013 BMW E70 X5 40D MSport

Previously :
2008 BMW E92 335D MSport
2004 BMW E46 M3
2005 BMW E60 535D MSport
2002 BMW E39 530D Sport
The list goes on...
