opinions

Post by shadrack » Thu Aug 29, 2013 7:20 pm

so ive had the m3 for about 5 months over summer and im getting a little bored now, but just had to have an m3 e46 because ive loved them forever, so was looking at a few possible cars to swap it in against and want some opinions all cars would be 06-09 range on my budget.

audi rs4 cab
x5 e70 30sd/35d (twin turbo d)
x5 4.8i (though would have to be cheaper than a d by a few k
range rover sport supercharged

any opinions on them especially if previously owned would be great, personal favourite rs4, though the m3 is proving mildly impractical for family use usually resulting in days out taking place in the work van to fit in all the usual crap!

Audi.....nope.  I like the way they drive but the interiors just don't do it for me.  A bit too 'Sales force' and brash for me.  I'm a bit biased by the truly arrogant dealers locally.

RRS - er, no, it's a Discovery with a tarty top on.

Have to be one of the E70s as the issues with the E53 4.8 would still worry me - air susp, gearbox, electrics etc.

IMHO of course

Aha.......well....

Apart from the missing V8 soundtrack, the diesel twin turbo has masses of torque on tap.

Going from an M3 you'll either love it or hate it, and of course they don't rev as high.

No brainer, the RS4

The B7 RS4 was the best car Audi made, partly excluding the R8
Currently :
2012 Audi RS4 (B8)
2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)
2008 Lotus Exige S (a bit modified!)
2015 Nissan Leaf twin turbo with Nitros

Previously :
2008 BMW X5 3.0sd MSport
2005 BMW 535d MSport

RS4 after the M3 might be good from a comparison point of view..

agree with what's said about audi though - interior is full of buttons and lights all over the place, lights up like a Christmas tree, exterior - RS4 is an age old design, high chance of super bling spotty led lights, so many blo0dy light designs (that's all they can design not cars!!) no consistency at all, no two cars look the same on the road!

but they'll go well! but 4wd?? then they won't be the tail happy fun riders like the M3s!

E70 4.8i? :))

Big fan of the RS4 here it's an iconic motor but if you have plenty of money for fuel go for the 4.8 X5.
