Admiral insurance

Post by Benstan » Tue Aug 27, 2013 8:23 pm

The renewal con is known to us all but this year takes the biscuit. Quoted 1680 by post so 5 mins on comparethemarket and Admiral very happy to match Elephant.co.uk's offer of 690 - £990 cheaper and of course Elephant are part of the same group!

Don't know whether to be delighted or irritated. Just wish they'd be sensible with the renewal first time around!

I live in a crap postcode despite the village being lovely. Great no claims and all the right answers (reliable job, homeowners etc).

Yes, loyalty discount. They knocked about £400 off all the cars in total.

Only thing with Admiral and Elephant is that even if it is a non fault accident they will bump your claim.

I got charged an extra £300PA after some looney went into me and i didnt even claim for the car since it was worthless.

Not my experience fortunately (but don't deny it is yours) - I pranged my 5 series and caused £6k of damage but the premium didn't alter appreciably the next year - Admiral were faultless on the repairs and it was the BMW dealership which caused more problems as they couldn't understand why I was happy to drive round in an Aygo (for free) instead of a replacement 5 series (which would cost a huge amount of money but they felt could be claimed against the insurer).

I wasnt as lucky as you then...

They told me that even though the accident was not my fault and i didnt claim, that statistically i am more likely to have an accident.

Just got my renewal from Swift Cover....£630 fully comp.

So i did the confused.com thing and....£337...same cover with AXA.

As a rule, i never blindly accept any insurance renewals without shopping around first.
