Self level susp. Help!!

Post by grantsmtih82 » Sat Aug 24, 2013 1:29 am

I've only had car a week.  Got in it tonight and on the display
In the dash. I got the following
"Selflevel susp. Inact".

What does this mean? That self level suspension is inactive?
How do I enable and disable it? I have no idea and no manual :(Image

Hi

Is it still there when you turn the car on? It happens now and then and does not necessarily mean there's something wrong.  BMW told me it sometimes comes on if you park on an uneven surface but when you restart the car and it runs through the checks it should reset.

Post back if its still on.

When you start the car do you wait until all the warning lights (apart from handbrake and engine) have gone out?

With these cars it's a good idea to 'turn, pause....... crank' so that all the system checks have completed before you drop the voltage by cranking the engine.  It's also a sign of a 'dying' or low charged battery.

Not sure of your model and year but you may be able to get a useful version of the manual from here:

Does it only do it....with the lights on....and after a few yards of driving?
Does it NEVER come on in the daylight?

Unless it stays on constantly or the suspension on the X sits uneven I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just get the battery checked to ensure all ok.

It's only ever done it that once. .... So far.  Also filled up today and pushed what I thought was the trip counter reset
However it came up check control ok but as I had it held down it went blank.  So what does this button do when pressed/held down ?
I did find trip reset to the left afterwards lol

I have had this message on constantly for a months - Got it cleared today - yay!

Birch 4x4 that carried out my gearbox rebuild carried out check for me and advised low voltage at off side rear.

I have just replaced this sensor - easy - two 10mm nuts and unplug sensor then reverse to install new. Initially the message on dashboard still appeared but after a minute or so of driving it cleared  So happy - This message with associated flashing triangle/arrows has been getting at me!

Its happened to me a couple of times, I had a blown fuse. The fuse you want is in the boot, right hand side cubby hole. Worth a check.

Mine warning came on last week, stays on for a drive, then sometimes clears itself, sometimes it's on for the whole journey, then can clear once it's been parked up ? Totally random, so doubt it's a fuse, and it seems to ride fine, not sure wether to bother chasing my tail on this one or just replace with springs ?? Any advice ?
