Hi all!

Post by Chappers76 » Sat Aug 03, 2013 8:24 pm

Hi all - couple of weeks in to a 2010 x5 in Sapphire Black, 3.0D MSport - pretty impressed with it so far, but still learning to live with it after my previous BMW.

Now:

4 years of playing around in this:

Anyone know how I can get the mirrors to auto close (dealer coding?) or to get camera alerts on the sat nav?

Cheers chappers

Hello and Welcome..... :hi:

In answer to your questions.....

1.  Requires coding but Dealers won't do it for 'Health & Safety' reasons......don't ask!!  You need to join a coders forum such as bmwcoders dot com.

2.  Probably not possible due to the hard drive map database in use on the CIC type iDrive.  It uses 3 DVDs and you need a licence key from a Dealer.  New maps are £25 and the key is £175 plus VAT for both.... >:(  I don't think anyone has found a way to amend the discs (yet).  I use a separate Road Angel for that bit.

It's got a sunroof......CSL's didn't have them if I remember as they had CF roofs for better weight balance.

It's still a very nice toy even so..... :drive:

Welcome to the made house. I too would like the auto fold option so may follow X5SPORT's advice and join the coding forum.

Sanj, didn't the cls have a CF roof?

Bloody nerds!  :))

Think you're right. I know bugger all, just remember seeing one overtake 5 cars in one go on a B-road and oh what a noise!

Lol sorry for the late reply guys - early night, riding in the prudential London100 today so needed some kip.

Yep, only a standard M3 tho - genuine CSL alloys on H&R springs but that's as far as the external mods went really. Proper quick car though and I will have another one at some point. :)

Thanks for the advice on the maps and folding mirrors!!

Hi & welcome,

Hope you like the E70..........it might not be as much of a hoon as the E46 M3 on rural twisty roads but in London traffic it is likely to be far more comfortable.

Considering the minor differences I find it odd how many rate the CSL so significantly higher than the standard E46 M3.

Quite significant differences really hence the very significant differences in driving pleasure.
