It looks to me like an iphone in a fold over leather case that makes it look twice as wide as it is, but it isn't unusual to see the rozzers on their handheld radios/mobile phones while driving.

As an Accountant he's too tight to allow them to expense batteries......but worse of course being that with rechargeables there's no 'waiting time'...just swap and play... >:D

Its not a real police van. It was a movie prop on its way to the film set. Thats why the van is very bare with the sign writing.
