2001 4.4 gearbox problem
My x5 recently when u pull of lurches forward when pulling away and when slowing down has harsh down change when u cone to a stop and the transmission failure comes up new battery has been fitted how much is the usual cost for a refurb I've read on the Internet that the most problems are the torque converter and also where's the best place in South Wales for a refurb

Sorry to here you have troubles. A warranted rebuild is going to be of the order of £2k, possibly more. Can't help with rebuilders in that area though. Look for GM and or ZF auto gearbox repairers as they should know what they're about.

Check the oil level before you start to panic. An oil and filter change can work wonders on these sealed for life boxes.

Also try resetting adaptations as that has occaisionally shown to help the lurch..

If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
