Images of the underside

Post by laradams » Thu Aug 01, 2013 8:00 pm

Hi folks, does anyone have images of the underside of the E53 with the covers removed. I have a slight drip of water coming from one of the trays but thinks its rain water but don't know what's above the covers. Any info appreciated.

It may be water from the air conditioning, nine drips water out from underneath when it is parked up.
With this hot weather most people have been using the AC.

Yeah I'm not panicking yet, but it was the fact when I pulled away I left a line of water down the drive.

The condenser will generate a surprising amount of water in the current high humidity conditions, so as said above, this sounds completely normal.  All of our current cars do it, and my E53 certainly did.

In answer to you original question though, I've not seen any pictures of the naked underside of an E53... :-[

But i have seen the underneath of an E53 too many times!!!!

Air con drains are roughly below the handbrake and exit either side of the gearbox.
Very convenient position as it drips onto the splines on the front prop shaft where it fits to the transfer box and will eventually rust and cause funny noises....

There are a number of drainage holes in the undertrays and a few mins on your knees should show you where the most likely position is..
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)
