Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for replacement front speakers as my mids (lower door) speakers are on their way out. I have the premium sound system ( non DSP) and am looking for an "easy" replacement set.
I would prefer a straight "bolt in" option without too much modification and I don't mind if I spend a little more on the speakers to achieve this.
Cheers, Drew

Front speaker replacement
Re: Front speaker replacement
I recently fitted Alpine SPG-17CS to the front doors of mine. I used the original plastic "cone holders" from the original speakers, with a glue gun used to hold the new ones in place. There was room next to them to fit the crossover in behind the original covers so all looks stock on top.
Mine wasn't the Hifi option but I had the BM54 upgraded with better amps and it works a treat with similar Alpine SPG-17C2 in the rear doors and a Alpine 8" sub in the boot (driven by its own amp, ebay special).
Much happier with the sound now. Just wish I could find something to fit in the dash speaker positions.

Re: Front speaker replacement
Thanks rhino, those alpines are a very good price too, i will prob run them in both front and rears too. Was the wiring a straight forward too?? I am also looking to upgrade the BM54 too so I can run a small sub but to also have the iPod connection and a bit more grunt too. I will prob look at purchasing a second hand BM54 to save me shipping mine from Aus. Hopefully this will give me a better sounding system in the car, it's the only thing that I wasn't impressed with when I bought it

BM54 amp , is that the standard amp for E53's ? Who/how did the upgrade for you and was it
expensive ? I was going to upgrade my speakers with BSW's from USA , I've heard they're very
good and are a direct replacement for the standard speakers .

I used the existing connectors for the rears, I just a couple of short lengths of wire to link the oem connector to the new speaker using some spade termination. For the fronts I did the same but cut the front feed into the crossover and then used that into the mid/woofer using spade connectors again and some extra short lengths up to the tweeters.

Yes the BM54 is the standard Radio/Amp unit. I had mine looked at by Baris, a chap in Enfield who fitted the upgraded amp modules and also some pre-outs for the rear sub. Only about ~£120/130. Top chap, highly recommended. This now runs upgraded speakers quite happily.
I looked at getting the BSW's but the fitting procedure is almost the same as I have done and I couldn't justify the extra cost after importing.
