INSTALLING CD CHANGER IN 2011/11 E71 X6??

Post by uplandswayx6 » Sun Jul 14, 2013 1:02 am

Hi,

I`d like to have the option of a CD changer in the E71 X6.

The X6 is already equipped with Media Package professional and also USB/Audio/ipod interface.

How easy/hard would it be to retro fit this below to my X6 and does this ad include everything required?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have no experience but as there is a blank at the rear of the glove compartment and in most cases the wiring is already in place it could be an easy job although the item you have linked to on ebay has been withdrawn.......a lucky escape maybe?

Looks almost complete from the pictures.

How much you need to do will depend upon whether or not you have 'CD changer preparation' on the car.  If you have then the wiring is in so it should be a case of taking the trim out of the back of the glovegox, finding the connectors and putting the new trim panel and changer in.  The part number doesn't match the X5/X6 one though:  up to 10/2010 it should be 65129167081, after that it's 65129242666 so I'm not sure which one the picture is from.  The part number isn't on Realoem for the X5, but is for the Mini R56 series - and that makes me suspicious of what it came out of in case the included wiring is wrong.

If no prep work done then you will need to remove a lot more and add the looms retrofit and code.  You will need the rear glovebox trim panel: 51167161780

Any idea if you had the prep done?  I have a copy of the BMW instructions but will need your email address to send them as I can't add PDF files on here.  Once fitted you will need the car coding.
