2006 x5 clicking steering column

2006 x5 there is a little clicking noise when moving the steering left and right sound like it coming from the steering column down under the dash by the pedels any one have any ideas of what this is or have came across this

UPDATE had a good look seems the click is coming from the u j joint above the steering rack am not sure if this is classes as the lower steering column

You said you found where the click is coming from but did you manage to sort your problem out?
I have a similar issue, although my click is only on turning the steering wheel left

FWIW it's a common issue...........others on another boards have stated it's nothing to be concerned with.

Maybe try some WD40
