Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
Not just so you see the weather, but the Apps, facebook, twitter, emails, text messages
I am on my fourth BMW with it, and as yet have not got a single car to actually fully work.
X6 is going in on Monday for the dealer to try and set up but I truly have very little faith. BMW customer services tried last week and gave up.
Phone is an iPhone4 which is apparently supported by BMW. We'll see!

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
I assume you have the Mobile Apps option on your car?
Getting the text messages to work is a bit more involved! Search for a post I did a few months ago as I did a step by step guide. Works for me with my iPhone 4 and E70 and my wife's X1 and iPhone 5.

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
As above, you need options 6FL, 6NF & 6NR installed. I think there's a 'roll-up' option now that covers all of it, but it needs to be put in at build, or expensively retrofitted later.

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
I've got the options, but unless I quickly obtain a degree in IT it's beyond me.
Let's hope Sopers manage it Monday. Not sure how the apps appear as I have yet to see a car with it functioning, but hopefully it will be ok.

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
I had everything except emails working on my X6. There was the email section included in the list of messages to refresh but it never came up!
Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
I get emails as well but tend to leave it turned off (via the phone) as its not easy to read via the iDrive or text to speech.
Private me if you're struggling to get it to work and ill help you out.
Very frustrating as officially the text/email isn't supported if you look on the BMW ConnectedDrive site. Shouldn't be this hard...
BTW - I do have a degree in IT

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
So back from the dealers.
They have also failed to get my emails and text messages working.
Also been told that I have the wrong cradle to use the Apps package. I know it is petty but surely BMW should include the correct cradle if they are charging for the software.
Correct cradle isn't in stock, so no further forward on the phone front except I have added 380 miles onto the car getting it looked at.

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
Have you looked at my post? Don't need the cradle to get the messages, it works fine over Bluetooth.
I didn't think you'd get much joy out of them. When I asked them to look at my "Internet" performance they were useless. I suspect there's a handful of people in Germany who actually know the idrive system and options inside out. Everyone else has the same shitty manual that comes with the car or uses the out of date ConnectedDrive website!

Do you have emails working via the Telephone : Messages menu , or Office : Menu or, I know find a third option
Connected drive: BMW Online: Office: BMW Online Messages
I am absolutely sure when I had a blackberry all my emails and text messages could be viewed either by going Telephone : Messages or via Office : Messages
I am guessing that at that point the car read the mails fromt he phone, whereas now it is downloading the emails from the server?

Re: Connected Drive...Has anyone got it to work
The Blackberry is the only system that supported the Office functions fully.
