Plastidipped my X

Post by spidey » Wed Jul 03, 2013 7:02 pm

Read about this product and thought I'd give it a go. Decided on matt grey, and I like how it turned out  8)ImageImage

I also fitted 10w Cree Angel eye bulbs. Still need to fit the high and low beam kits.Image

Wow - looks cool. I got my ute wrapped but there are a couple of places where you can see the seams. Do you just spray that stuff straight over the paint job? How long does it last?

You spray it straight overImage Did my son's Golf in matt black. It's really easy to work with, and it peels off easily. Having said that, it is pretty durable, but petrol is the enemy - careful when you fill up

The more coats you use the better. It offers greater protection, and is also easier to peel off. Generally 5 coats is sufficient. I used 5l on the golf, and 7.5l on the X. The great thing is you can mix custom colors, metallic, gloss and flips if that pushes your buttons  :P

Plasti-dip is American. it sells for around $6 a can over there. Here its more limited, you can find a few cans floating around on ebay for £19.99 or there is a uk plasti-dip stockist but they ship limited amounts at a time and are pretty much always sold out.

I did look into getting this shipped over but it is considered extremely harmful, so much so certain countries have banned it altogether. also im not so sure it would do too well in our weather, although plasti-dipped wheels do look the dogs!

Pity. I also enquired, and by chance came across a company that has the agency locally. They can custom mix colors and I buy the 5l cans, which, for obvious reasons is more practical.
