thanks for that, i installed it.

did it cos i used to have an annoying error - if handbrake on for instance, when the ipod is being played when driven off, instead of saying handbrake on  on the OBC it would display the name of the song, along with the 'ding'!!

hopefully that is sorted now.

didn't go through the massive pdf, one cool addition is ability to drop the volume when reverse is engaged; plus that too is by a configurable value. helps when i'm feeling 'loud' lol.

there are loads more features in new menus which i think i'd never use.. like being able to change the entry/exit light on timers etc..

No problem glad you got your problem sorted! I am going to try update my Intravee as it's a year out of date.

That's good I'm looking forward to the latest features now :)

some cool  new options to do with lights
- switch on the low beam on flash (i didn't do it - not recommended if u have xenon..)
- illuminate the side u r turning to when side-signal is on, at low speed - with the fog
- drop the volume when reverse is engaged (actually this works on pdc)
- lots more features with lights..
- obc display can show fuel, battery, speed, max rpm ,g-force on brake and acceleration, coolant temp, etc(did we already have this?)
- oh and a nice one - set an alarm on high temp (say alarm at 85c.. or any configurable coolant temp from 80 to 100c).
- u can also set an alarm on high rpm, if u like to drive manual

Wow that's some neat new features!

Out of interest what cable do you use? I'm having a little trouble updating mine. I've tried using my USB to Serial converter which works fine for DIS,INPA,Progman etc but I then connect an old serial cable I found at work to it.

The loader software doesn't recognize my Intravee I have followed Richards instructions on 5 forum making sure I have set both the port in device manager to COM1 and also in the software and have tried different speeds. Also making sure the ignition is switched on with the intravee working but it still says
"Not in application or bootloader? Check cable?"

The only thing I can think of is the old cable I got from work is dodgy.

What brand do you use?

Thanks!

Ha thanks it would be rude not to buy at that price! Do you know if it works with Windows 7 64bit?

lol

i don't know mate, last time i tried to get ncs expert running in a vmware shell in my win 7 it got nowhere and eventually i had to refresh the comp from scratch (its an office comp and vmware shell couldn't access the usb port!!  :chair:  and my IT were NOT happy  :)) )

since then i've given up on that and now i have an old xp lappy just for these things..

Haha really! Probably not best to try on work equipment :)

Funny you should mention that I have been trying to get NCS expert running in an XP VMware but can't get it to recognise the USB to serial adaptor maybe I should just give up too! :) Maybe I should I dig out the old XP laptop with the onboard serial port that way theres no adaptors or VMware involved just plain old school.
I just wish NCS expert worked with 64bit Win 7 then I could use my current laptop NCS dummy does work with it I believe but you need the NCS expert to retrieve and flash the FSW file from what I've read...

re. NCS Dummy - correct.

NCS Dummy 0.6.0.0 can  edit the FSW_PSW.TRC and save the resulting .MAN file as well.

said that i only use ncs dummy as a translator plus to find out applicable values in 'english'!

never tried to change and save with ncs dummy - my rational is - it may very well work but its 3rd party sw and that's an additional layer of risk so i'd avoid it. but that might be just me being paranoid.

ie, it is essentially a translator, shows everything in english, when you save, it saves back everything in 'native' language. lets assume its greek. if it makes a mistake here in the translation, elsewhere even, i wouldn't even notice!)

so i find out the correct valuesas in ncs dummy if i have to,  go make the changes in notepad as usual in the .MAN file, then use ncs expert as usual to recode.

i've done this whole journey only about twice so far. rather new to that..

If i remember correctly NCS Dummy will not talk to the car anyway.
It is only the translator and editor.

NCS Expert is the Comms pack, and the bit that could do the damage
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

that's right

what i mean by risk with ncs dummy is - when it saves what if it mistakenly does some other change for instance save some dummy characters elsewhere in the .MAN.. you would never know - cos you cannot validate the whole file. that compared to when you edit with notepad you know its just that one value that is changed.

i guess u can say - i trust notepad compared to some software making a change to a file..

of course you can and should have backups.. like i said maybe i'm paranoid.  :nerd:

Makes perfect sense I know what you mean! :)

Then again its better to paranoid than have a bricked ECU :))
