head unit problems...

First off its in the m3 but its the sat nav tv etc headunit which my e53 had, anyway sat nav, computer, phone, tv all works but no music if I press the left button to turn on to radio\cd nothing no light comes on near the knob and the display doesncome on for sounds.  The otherday it wouldn't turn on the 5 min later it did but yesterday, nothing?? I'm puzzled

Tried a battery disconnect?

I've had numerous short term audio glitches with the X5, but they have always re-set themselves overnight or after being 'rested' for a while.
