Knob on dash?

Post by gmc15 » Thu Nov 18, 2010 7:12 pm

Any idea what the knob is on the dash just at top right corner of sat nav screen on this car? The car I am getting has it but I don't know what it is.

Thanks

Graeme. :)

http://www.trafficmaster.co.uk/

Provides a constant traffic report - they're the ones that own all of the cameras in green cases you see hanging off flyover bridges and on posts on the side of major roads - they're speed detectors.

Thanks. Is that something you have to subscribe to or is it free?

You have to subscribe but if you've got a good SatNav like a Garmin or TomTom that can receive TMC for free (ie one that dynamically changes route depending on traffic) you don't need TrafficMaster.

OK thanks. Do you know if it can be used as a tracker, ie to monitor if your vehicle has been stolen?

No. You'd need to buy one of their Trackstar units for that and pay an annual subscription. :)
