Boot liner / mat

Post by silverous » Tue Jun 04, 2013 10:12 am

Hi,

I pick up my X5 on Saturday.  We want to get a boot liner for it, have searched on here but most of them seem to have the sides on them and be quite firm plastic.  We have the third row seats and would like to be able to utilise them when out and about but if you have a solid boot liner you'd have nowhere to put it ?

Does anyone have third row seat and a boot liner ?  I'm thinking if it was a roll-up one you could then put it in what is left of the boot after 3rd row seats raised.

Thanks

Paul

I tried:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-A ... 9132888%26

and it is rubbish, basically a big bit of cloth that will move whenever you put something in and out of the boot.  So that is going back.

Costco sell very soft rubber boot liners for about 7 quid. They aren't tailored but the rubber is so soft nothing slides on it and it rolls up okay aswell.

Having bought the crappy piece of material thing and sent it back, my wife spoke to local dealership - Scotthall Milton Keynes, who were very helpful indeed and ordered us in one of these:

It arrived in a few days and she popped down and they fitted it and checked we were happy.  It fits really snugly, had to make sure it was ok for the 3rd row seats which it is.  Really pleased with it, no more mud/scuffs from the kids buggy.

Thanks, we didn't want to cover the whole boot, for our needs the linked item was great as it fits well and still looks smart.  I suspect most people needing that kind of all boot liner should have bought a LR discovery for all the rambling, fishing, dog walking and general farming they are up to :)

Hi,

I have the first one of those mats............its neither soft enough to roll up. not has it any grip......my dog slides around on it as if it were lino.
If you happen to have it in the boot and neead the third row of seats, you end up folding it and it deforms.

I had the same style mat as the second one on my E53......the sides dont stay up at all. They attach via a piece of elastic that slips over the bump stop for the tailgate and destroys your boot rubber.

Im still looking.......................

Regards,

Nat.

Go to Travall on the internet ( www.travall.co.uk ) - car specific floor mats, bootliners and other protective stuff really with dogs in mind. I have the bootliner - rubber, tailored with a small lip. Excellent quality product. Not perfect when the third row is in use - unless you take it out - but will roll up perfectly happily.

I've got the semi-rigid type of liner in our 7 seater-£20 off fleabay, just leave it in garage for the 20 days a year we use the 7 seats. The rest of the time the comfort factor of having that 2" lip round the boot is worth it. I once had a carton of milk leak onto the carpet of a car & can still remember the smell 20 years later :'(
